galib apne ap se mukhatib hote hue keh rahe hain ki,,wo khuda ko nahi mante,,bewafa hi sahi,,yahan bewafa ka matlab allah se duri or bewafai hai,,to jo log allah ko manne wale hain or galib ko pasand nahi krte wo unse duri kyu nahi bana lete unke paas jate ji kyu hain.

Here he refers to himself .you can understand this better if you have an idea of Ghalib’s life .
i know little bit urdu. i understand it this way. I guess ghalib is talking about his lady love . ” most of the time” it is an imaginary lady love which ghalib addresses. this is also true for other urdu poets.

Kedar, Can I say a big thank you? Its 1.27 am and i am working on my thesis, nothing better than understanding what Jagjit Singh is singing in my ear. I wish I can thank him officially in my thesis acknowledgement as he has a big role in my writing late in night. And above all to keep me awake.
There has been numerous occasions when I felt like saying “Dil hii to hai na sang-o-Khisht dard se bhar na aaye kyuuN, roenge ham hazaar baar koii hamen sataaye kyuuN”. I think it is just a part of being human that one can cry when “Dard” is too much to take.

its one of best ghalib’s “ghazals” which is somewhat difficult to understand as Ghalib’s other poetry. Translation surely made it easy for all readers. As i understand, “Aastaan” is not a doorstep but it refers to shrine (like aastana-e-aalia Peer———etc). Ghalib says that it is neither a “mandar”, “Masjid” “Dar” (residence of any one) and Aastaan (shrine).
Ghalib e Khasta means tired , exhausted or bored Ghalib
